Expect more, get more.

I was returning from London to Mumbai by Air India just a month ago. Emirates was flying out at the same time. If any one has travelled by air in the recent times, you know what a hassle it is to take your laptop out, your cell phone out, your wallets out, your sweater out, and even your shoes out. It becomes routine. Security personnel are kind and courteous, generally. The whole exercise is conducted knowing fully well, the one’s that plan to penetrate the best of securities will do so. Actually will do so with a lot of ease.  So we play along and get through the rigmarole.

The people in the next line weren’t exactly being treated with same courtesy as my line. It is human error. I understand that.

What I don’t understand is the attitude, that we don’t expect any different; because we can’t get above our own prejudice: all of you are a potential threat and hence it is justifiable to be rude and impolite to you. I don’t think it is fair to subject a 10 year old to that kind of prejudice. He wont know better, just because we don’t expect better. It is human error. I don’t understand.

But there is hope. A president was elected. But more importantly faith has been restored. Believe in yourself. Rise above the expected. You will achieve. Because you know better.
